When our guests come to Pristaniste from Ukraine to sleep in silence for two weeks, they often bring us small souvenirs.
Sometimes these are keychains with a Ukrainian card.
Sometimes-Ukrainian flags with a trident.
Sometimes-mugs with cheerful sunflowers that reach to the sky and the world, and yellow-blue rubber bracelets.
Or fridge magnets: a yellow and blue heart.
These magnets and keychains are infinitely dear to us. They are such special signs of trust that they exchange only with their own people.
Someday, we believe, Pristanište will have a house where every bracelet, key chain and magnet is displayed in a frame with words of gratitude to those Ukrainians who entrusted their children to us, even if only for two weeks. Because they knew that they would be happy here.
In the meantime, we just keep them carefully.
